No matter what time of the year, you can always find four beauty products in my handbag: Clinique’s Even Better Dark Spot Corrector Serum, Nars’ Bronzing Powder, Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB Cream, and Narciso Rodriguez For Her
- For as long as I can remember, I have always struggled with break outs around my chin area, and I can’t help but pick at them. Because of it, I have scars and have always been so self-conscious of them. But, I have always been iffy about investing in some expensive cream that is going to end up not working. However, a good friend of mine works for Clinique and recommended their Even Better Dark Spot Corrector Serum and swore to me I would be pleased with the results. So I gave in and got it & she was right–it works wonders! The box says that after 3 months, your dark spots are reduced by 58%, but at 4 weeks your skin tone can expect to see a 1-2 visible shade improvement in your dark spots. I loved this part because it meant I didn’t have to wait forever to see a change! So starting on January 1st I religiously applied the serum to my dark spots every morning and night after cleansing my face. After just a couple of weeks my skin was already looking better. By the end of the month there was most definitely an improvement and although I didn’t continue using it because it’s a bit pricey, I will definitely be purchasing it again in the near future
- The next product that parallels to the Clinique Dark Spot Corrector Serum is the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream. I never really took in consideration the hype that pricier beauty products were better for your skin than cheaper brands, but after deciding to invest in great skin foundations and bronzer over the past couple of years, I can attest that this is in fact very true. My skin looks better now than ever before. I always hated used liquid foundation because it always felt like I was just stuffing my pores and my face always just needed a breath. But I hated how little coverage powder foundation provided (especially on my dark spots). But thennnn, I discovered Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB Cream and I will never betray this beautiful masterpiece of makeup. What is so awesome about this product is that it not only gives you awesome coverage, but it actually improves your skin by moisturizing, priming, perfecting, controlling oil and protecting your skin (it has SPF 35 in it!).
- Once I have applied my BB Cream, I need some bronzer to give me some color. One bronzer that never disappoints is Nars Bronzing Powder. It gives my skin such a natural look and has a matte finish, making my skin look airbrushed. Also, it is lightweight so it doesn’t feel like I have makeup on–getting me through the work day without just wishing I could take all my makeup off by the time 2 pm rolls around.
- Lastly, smelling nice is a must. I have never really been a fan of the fruity, youthful scents that a lot of girls my age use (i.e. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy), I prefer the more mature scents–such as Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker and my current fave: Narciso Rodriguez. When looking up words that describe perfume scents, I came across one that described the adjective “musk” and at the end of the description it said “One of the most distinctive musky fragrances is Narciso Rodriguez For Her.” Although I hate the way that word sounds, it’s definition is a great description of this fragrance, with its sophisticated and refined effect.
