I am sure many of you have seen #acaibowl or #smoothiebowl up and down your timeline. The mouth watering, jaw dropping fruit bowl. I had no idea what these delicious looking pictures were, but I was definitely going to find out. I love fresh fruit and am always down to try some thing new with fruit. So I did some digging around to see what this #acaibowl was all about and what exactly is Acai. Acai berries are a superfood filled with antioxidants founded in South America.
To make this Acai Bowl you will need the following:
- Cutting Board
- Acai Frozen, Powder, or Fresh
- Dragon Fruit
- Frozen mixed fruit
- Chai seeds
- Almond Milk
Don’t judge me, but I didn’t have a blender at my house so I went to Bed Bath & Beyond to purchase one. When I say, the prices for blenders were OUT OF CONTROL. With that being said, I purchased the cheapest one for $19.99. I went to a Chinese market to get my fresh fruits and of course I was the only black person in there. I had to purchase the Acai from Dierbergs in the frozen food section because clearly there wasn’t any other grocery store in St. Louis with fresh Acai. I also purchased a bag of frozen assorted fruits.
I started off by cutting up all the fresh fruit I wanted to use as my toppings. I also placed some of the freshly cut bananas in the freezer for a better blending texture. Then I placed the frozen acai in the blender along with the frozen assorted fruit and the frozen banana. Poured a little almond milk in the blender and blended everything up. The cheap blender I purchased was not blending everything together, so I had take some of the stuff out and blend separately. That was the pitts.
The acai bowl was super yummy. If you are a fruit lover you will definitely enjoy this recipe. If you decide to create a Acai Bowl, comment me below how yours turned out.
Note: I returned the blender. I’m guessing the blades were not sharp enough. I see why blenders cost so much now, you’re paying for the sharp blades. So, heads up if you are on the market for a blender don’t go for the cheapest one; invest in a good blender.
