I decided to add a travel category to the blog. For those who follow my social media platforms, you are familiar with my traveling experiences.
I’ve been traveling since my high school days; going to Miami with fake ID’s, getting turned around in the club to studying abroad in London. It’s way overdue for me to start documenting my travels and sharing them with you all.
My grandmother greatly influenced my interest in traveling. A country lady born in the boot hills of Arkansas, she traveled all over the world and didn’t have much money. I knew then the importance of travel. And how it enriches your life and exposes you to different things such as cultures, food, art, history, overall a well rounded person.
Last year (2015) in July I went to Rome, Florence, and London. This was my first time visiting Rome and Florence. Apparently, Rome was hotter than usual, it was literally 100 + degrees. Rome, was also crazy crowded with tourists. I didn’t get a chance to tour inside anywhere because I overslept my personal tour guide appointment. Talk about jet leg at it’s fullness. Even tho, I missed my personal tour guide, I did catch a tour bus to sight see which was pretty cool. I saw the stunning historical architecture Rome had to offer such as the Colosseum. I can understand why it’s a popular tourist area. I stayed in Rome for two days, in a cute boutique hotel and caught the train to Florence.
Florence was one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen outside of Paris. Something that stood out to me was the Michelangelo statue. It was something I’ve seen all the time on TV, but I was finally able to experience it in person. The people were so nice and helpful too. I was very shocked coming from Rome, let’s just say the people were not as friendly there. Surprisingly, in Florence most of the places I went as far as shopping and restaurants most of the people spoke English. I ate Italian food the entire stay with no disappointments. The food was so good I almost tried to convince myself that I couldn’t eat Italian once I was back in the states; but we both know that wasn’t going to happen.
London was London; I mean I really don’t have much to say about London because I use to live there. But, I will say I could never get tired of going there.
Europe was an astounding trip, just being outside of STL made me happy. You, yes YOU, can travel the world if you want to. The most important aspect of traveling is planning accordingly. #BLACKGIRLSTRAVEL too.
