Whether you are just forming a business or have operating for a few years, I can help you grow where you are. Think of me as your mentor along your entrepreneurship journey.
Latoya Thompson is a multipreneur from St. Louis. She earned an Associates Degree in Human Services from St. Louis Community College and her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising from Fontbonne University. Latoya had launched three businesses by the age of 33 in the fashion, beauty and healthcare fields. Each of these brands is different at first glance but represent the same ethos - being intentional with one's choices, family and remaining true to oneself and values. Currently, Latoya is shifting her focus to consulting as a means of sharing her wealth of knowledge in business.
As someone who didn’t have guidance starting these businesses, she’d like to be able to guide others on their journeys. A While in college, Latoya cut her fashion chops working as a personal stylist at Nordstrom and Ann Taylor. She followed up with a stint as an e-commerce merchandiser for New Balance. It was during this time she decided to capitalize on the skills she honed working in fashion. In 2008, Latoya launched her first business, personal styling brand, Latoya Elnora. An eye for future trends and strong personal style, Latoya helped her diverse clientele gain confidence by helping create their personal style.
Make it stand out.
In 2015, Latoya launched her next venture, Heritage1933™, a natural beauty social enterprise. The name of the brand comes from the affection that Latoya possesses for her grandmother; 1933 represents the year that her grandmother was born. The products themselves are a line of non- toxic beauty products for the hair and body. Heritage1933™ is also the source for quality, natural hair extensions for women of color. Whether you are a natural newbie, a socially conscious shopper, or someone who is confident switching up their look, Heritage1933™ has products made with you specifically in mind. Heritage1933™ continues to push the narrow boundaries of beauty perception and continually fosters a safe haven for dark skinned women to embrace their beauty daily.
The depth of Heritage1933™ does stop there however. The brand was also created with philanthropic values intertwined. Recalling her experiences in her past, Latoya wanted to give back to those experiencing similar hardships to the ones she also experienced. This is why Heritage1933™ puts such intent into their community outreach. Each year Heritage1933™ matches their funds per quarter, donating hair care products to local women’s shelters in St. Louis. In 2017 they donated over 1,000 products alone.
After college, Latoya took on a larger role in taking care of her grandmother, whose health had started declining. Her grandmother passed in 2018, but it was through this experience that Latoya intuited an opportunity and a real need - she decided to create Legacy Care LLC. Legacy Care focuses on offering companionship and personalized at home care for individuals in need. They serve the St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles, Missouri areas.
